Men’s Groups at Stone Church

An Overview

The men of Stone Church are involved in many mission, study and fellowship activities. Some have constructed homes for needy families in our state. Others organize events such as hunger walkathons, or study conferences. Still others enjoy fellowship in discussing a book many in their group have read. Some pilot small aircraft. In the past some have been amateur winemakers. This is just a partial list.

This page features activities currently taking place, where anyone wishing to join in is welcome, and where there is a group of Stone Church men participating. There is a twin emphasis here — on mission and on fellowship.

We encourage anyone who has a passion to gather friends in a new activity that’s compatible with Stone Church values to make those wishes known by sending an email to the Stone Church Webmaster. Here is the link: .

JavaScript must be enabled to display this email address.

That will begin the process of getting your group recognized, so that church publicity resources, including the web site, can become available to list your activities and invite participation.

Mens Work Group 1

Men’s Mission Work Fellowship

The Men’s Mission Work Fellowship began while Art Mills was our pastor. Under the leadership of Leland Wong Stone Church men have travelled to several places in California to provide volunteer services in light construction. The trips planned in 2008, with precise dates to come later, are:
  • March 2008, to Westminster Woods;
  • Sept. 2008, to Zephyr; and
  • Nov. 2008, to Westminster Woods.
In the summer and fall of 2007 the group took part in the following activities:
  • Sept. 14–18, to Zephyr Point Presbyterian Conference Center, to build a stairway and help with other projects;
  • Oct. 19–21, to Westminster Woods, to help build a playground; and
  • Nov. 2–4, to Westminster Woods, to complete some playground work.
Contact Leland Wong if you are interested in participating in any of these events.

MensFlying

Recreational Flying and Fellowship Activities

Among our Stone Church men are a number of general aviation pilots with their own airplanes. These pilots all have outstanding safety records and participate in continuing education and pilot safety seminars. We schedule occasional trips to air museums around the Bay Area for a fee that simply shares the pilot’s out of pocket costs.

The photo here is of the group which flew to the Castle AFB museum in July 2007. The next scheduled trip will be to the Hiller Air Museum at the San Carlos Airport with lunch at Half Moon Bay on January 12, 2008 (with January 19 as a backup date in case of inclement weather on the 12th). Interested parties should reserve a seat for this event which will be on a first come first served basis.

Please contact Bill Ribble to reserve a seat or with any questions.
