Worship

Our Liturgy
The word "liturgy" refers to the various parts of the worship service and how they work together to help us experience God in community. Our worship liturgy, in the tradition of the Reformed Church, has four parts: Preparation for the Word, Reading of the Word, Exposition of the Word, and Response to the Word.

We prepare ourselves with silence, with sharing the joys and concerns of the community, and with praise. We are attentive to the reading and hearing of the scriptural passages. We seek interpretation of the word from the Pastor's sermon. We act out our obligations as believers - to praise and pray, to offer and dedicate, to make public confession of faith, to invite others to share the faith and to offer one another fellowship in the Lord's Peace.

We pray our liturgy as a reflection and strengthening of our daily living as followers of Jesus Christ. We celebrate Holy Communion during our morning service on the first Sunday of each month. We invite all who are worshipping the Lord with us to share in the feast.

Sunday Morning Service
Our Sunday morning worship service is at 9:30 a.m. Children leave the service following the children's message, at approximately 9:50, except on Communion Sundays, when the children begin the morning at school and join the congregation to share the feast.

Taizé Services
Taizé services of music and meditation are held at 6:45 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month, and every Tuesday during Advent and Lent.

Communion
Communion is served on the first Sunday morning of each month, Maundy Thursday just before Easter, and on special occasions (as authorized by the Session). Communion for the homebound is provided as requested the week following the first Sunday of each month. We use the intinction method, dipping a piece of bread into a cup of wine or grape juice. All who believe in Jesus Christ are welcome to join us in this feast.

Baptisms
Baptisms take place during the Sunday morning service. For adults or youth, these occur as part of the reception of new members. Infant baptisms, prearranged with the Pastors, are performed during Sunday worship services.
